🕯️Things that go bump in the night. Hey, I may be a psychic medium, but that doesn’t mean I seek them out. I don’t do haunted houses or ghost tours at Halloween. Working with the paranormal daily is enough; I prefer to avoid an influx of spirits while surrounded by everyone else’s energy because it’s overwhelming.
Still, I’ve always loved this time of year. Halloween, or All Hallows’ Eve, is a prelude to All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, a trio of sacred days devoted to honoring those who have passed. Across cultures and faiths, this season carries profound meaning. It’s a time when the veil between the seen and unseen is believed to thin, inviting us to reflect on life, love, and Spirit.
Honoring Our Pets

In many traditions, this is also a moment to recognize our animal companions who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. October 27 is set aside by some to remember beloved pets, with candles, photos, or small tokens placed in their memory. Whether or not we mark a specific date, the energy of late October invites remembrance, gratitude, and connection with those who continue to walk beside us in Spirit.
The Thin Veil
As the season deepens, the connection between worlds feels closer. The veil truly does seem thinner, and Spirit often finds new ways to remind us that love never ends. Mediumship might seem mysterious or spooky to some, but for me it’s filled with love and light. It serves as a bridge of compassion, enabling communication between this world and the next. The souls who step forward bring messages meant to comfort and uplift, reinforcing the idea that love persists beyond what our eyes can see.
Around this time, I often sense Spirit more strongly. Sometimes it’s a familiar warmth, a subtle fragrance, a song that plays at just the right moment, or a whisper that comes through as clear as thought itself. The mediumship readings I do also feel a bit more magical during this season, with messages arriving with extra clarity and grace. This heightened energy likely stems from the collective focus on Spirit and remembrance, creating a bridge that opens wider.
A Personal Connection with Spirit's Presence
I have experienced Spirit for as long as I can remember. As a child, we lived in a beautiful old brick house built in the early 1900s, with creaky floors, tall windows, and a big yard. During some renovations, we discovered a secret hiding place in the very first step of the staircase. Inside was an incredibly old journal belonging to a young man named Jonathan.
As my mom and I read through it, we learned that Jonathan was kind and devoted to his family, including his sister, Isabella. Tragically, both siblings passed away, but we decided to honor him by returning the journal to its resting place in that hidden step.
Not long after, I began to sense Jonathan’s presence in our home. He would come into my room at night, often alongside my dog, Gretchen, who liked to check on everyone. I would see him sit at the foot of my bed, and I could feel his energy there. Sometimes, I would talk to him, and he would quietly leave. This marked the beginning of an enduring friendship with our family.
Jonathan watched over me, even subtly helping my mom maintain order. Once, when she told me to turn off the TV and I didn’t, it switched off by itself without her being nearby. Another time, she thought I had done something wrong, but Jonathan seemed to clarify things by closing the basement door, signaling that I was innocent. She sighed and commented, “Okay, I guess you didn’t.” She was always pretty cool about it.
With time, Jonathan’s energy evolved. He seemed more at peace, suggesting that by watching over me, he found a path to healing as well. As I grew older, his visits became less frequent, as though he knew it was time for both of us to move forward.
Jonathan’s presence was never frightening. It was protective, kind, and filled with love. It reminded me even then that Spirit is real, that love never leaves, and that sometimes the bonds we form with souls are meant to help both sides heal.
Tools of Connection

During this in-between season, tarot and oracle cards feel especially powerful. They serve as gentle tools for connection, helping us translate the whispers of Spirit and the wisdom within us. Card readings are less about predicting the future and more about tuning into our intuition and the guidance that surrounds us.
While tarot cards follow a structured system of seventy-eight cards divided into Major and Minor Arcana, oracle cards are more fluid, varying in number and theme. Each deck carries its own vibration. Some feel gentle and nurturing, while others are bold and transformative. I cherish both for different reasons and often choose whichever aligns best with the energy of the person or situation.
Embracing Magic
When I read cards, I connect with Spirit, allowing the energy to guide which cards appear. Everything including the images, symbols, and words carries meaning. Sometimes a message is reassuring; other times, it’s an invitation to release, grow, or trust. Whatever the message, it always arrives with love and divine timing.

Halloween reminds us that magic and meaning often exist side by side. Beneath the surface of celebration lies a deeper invitation to reconnect with the unseen, to trust our intuition, and to honor the wisdom that flows between worlds. It’s a time to reflect, to remember, and to open our hearts to Spirit’s gentle guidance.
Whether you’re seeking clarity, comfort, or connection with Spirit, this is a beautiful time to explore the messages waiting for you.
May this Halloween bring you insight, peace, and a renewed sense of wonder in the magic that surrounds us. 🌿✨
